This
one-day workshop is organised by the BSPP, under the auspices
of the International Year of the Potato (http://www.potato2008.org/),
with sponsorship from the Potato Council (http://www.potato.org.uk/
). The workshop is designed to give an overview of current disease
constraints on potato production and to provide post-graduates
and recent post-docs with an opportunity to present either brief
oral or poster presentations. A prize will be awarded by the
Potato Council for the best oral presentation. Weather permitting,
delegates will be able to visit the potato training plots at
SASA's Gogarbank Farm. The plots are used for The Scottish Seed
Potato Growing Crop Inspection Course which takes place annually
during the last 2 weeks of June and is designed to train inspectors
in the recognition of the 30 most common potato varieties, genetic
variants, and virus and bacterial diseases (http://www.sasa.gov.uk/training/potatoes.cfm).
Registration for this event is free to BSPP members and
Potato Council-levy payers. Non-members/non-Potato Council-levy
payers can register for this event for £20 (Pounds Sterling).
To assist our organisation we require all delegates to complete
a registration form. Registration is available here.
